Who Are We?

We are Cub Scout Pack #148

We are chartered by the American Legion T. Nulty Post #471, Iselin. Our scouts currently come from Iselin, Woodbridge, Fords, Avenel, Carteret, Edison, and Metuchen. You can join our pack regardless of where you live, as long as you are a Kindergarten through 5th grader. We have a variety of activities throughout the year. We have at least 2 den meetings and one pack meeting each month. Scouts are separated into dens based on their current grade level. We have Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos, and Arrow of Light Scouts. Most dens have 3-8 scouts.

At den meetings, scouts participate in activities with other scouts that are the same grade/age. We try to come together for our opening and closing, but for the most part, we remain separate. At Pack meetings, we typically either all come together for the same activity at the same time (for example if a guest comes to give a demonstration) or we rotate to different activities related to the same theme. We may have scouts rotate in their dens or we may divide them into split level groups.

Our scout year follows the school calendar. That means that its always the PERFECT TIME TO JOIN! While our charter runs from January-December, our advancement runs from June-May. That means that any activities your child participates in this summer will count towards the next year!

Scouts BSA has recently made changes in their program to allow girls to join cub scouts. We have been a family friendly pack for several years, and we already allow siblings to attend all of our meetings, events, and outings (with very few exceptions when space is limited). The good news is that those little sisters can now participate fully.

Our pack is very active with a variety of outings. We attend at least 2 camping trips each year. Typically one will be in tents and the other is in cabins. We have also participated in outings such as nature hikes, local museums or zoos, fishing, roller or ice skating, historical sites, etc. We usually do one more expensive trip each year, which is usually an overnighter. Examples of this trip are Battleship NJ, Liberty Science Center, Great Wolf Lodge, etc.
